“Transition to a circular economy through industry 4.0”

Circular Economy (CE) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) are undoubtedly two of the most influential topics of the last decade. Gradually, both the first and second development strategies, aroused the interest of policy makers, research organizations and industry from all around the world. Although we usually describe them as two independent research areas, there are a multitude of related topics that represents the complementary contents of the European Union Action Plan for the smooth transition to the European Green Deal objectives.

A full-day Event “Slovenian Industry of the Future: Transition to a Circular Economy through Industry 4.0” was held on September 10th 2020 under the organisation of the TECOS Development Centre in Celje, Slovenia. LIFE CEPLAFIB gain an excellent opportunity to share and present their best practice of the Circular Economy on raising the recycling rates of the post-consumer plastic and paper waste streams. In addition, we manage to establish a wide network collaboration with many other LIFE projects, including LIFE Turn to e-circular, LIFE BAQUA, LIFE BioTHOP, LIFE CITRUSPACK, LIFE HIDAQUA, LIFE RusaLCA, LIFE ClimatePath2050 and LIFE for Acid Whey. Beside we have created a long-term and interactive cooperation with projects dealing with the implementation of the Industry 4.0, just to name a few: CIRCULAR 4.0, S3HUBsinCE, MAPGEARS, CoSiMa, ADMA, Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia and KOLEKTOR’s Digital transformation route.

With the participation in this event, LIFE CEPLAFIB gain an opportunity to co-create an excellent creative environment for the operational use of the circularity as a supply chain strategy, exchange ideas to measure the progress of future industrial development and a good basis for joint implementation of the future European Green Deal Plan.
